I must admit to being a bit of a shopaholic, without the salary to support my addiction… So, with a £30 voucher from my recent birthday I popped into the John Lewis cook shop and allowed myself a few treats.
I’ve been lusting over this Orla Kiely design for a good few months now, with its deep dark blue colouring and retro styling. I thought the ideal size of the sugar bowl would be perfect to use as my Maldon sea salt keeper. At £17 it took a hefty chunk of my voucher, but I love it, and the time I’ve spent loving it definitely justifies buying it.I have a flimsy, peachy coloured plastic colander with cracks and melted bits on it, so thought a wise investment would be this powder blue metal colander. At £12 I thought the price rather reasonable, and if it means I wont burn myself draining boiling water from my heavy pans then it’s definitely a good buy – it could save me from a minor burn!A few years ago my lovely best friend Lucy bought me a beautiful pink Mason and Cash bowl with hearts and cute weave effect pattern around the edge. Unfortunately it didn’t survive a car journey and I have been without a large mixing bowl ever since. This purple Mason and Cash bowl was the closest match I’ve seen, and so felt it my duty to replace the old one that my friend so kindly bought me, and I so ungratefully broke. I believe this one was £22 and will be perfect for mixing my Christmas puddings this year.So after the voucher I had a further £21 to pay for my wonderful goodies! Don’t you agree, a total bargain?!
